Has anyone any suggestions for removing dirt from the insides of a
pocket camera?

A pocket camera? If you don't want to take it apart try banging an edge on
the table to dislodge the dirt. I've done it myself. Good luck.

Small sensor pocket cameras tend to be 'sharp' enough (apeerture-wise)
that even a bug or booger (buugger?) on the front of the lens might
cause this. Otherwise, with a fixed lens camera, it's probably going
to take a vist to the doctor... ={

As it's a few years old it isn't worth having a professional dismantle
it. I've tried knocking it on a table and dropping it a short way but
the dust particles are too small to fall off easily.

It's beginning to look like camera-buying time. I'll just wait until
everyone else has gone on holiday...

Have had some luck in dis-assembling cameras in the past and even better
luck in getting them back to-gether as well, repaired and working
properly
---
If you decide to try it yourself
Clean, uncluttered table top, with white sheet to keep track of small
parts. always a handy to have another camera handy to take photos of
where the parts go. so you can get hem back in the same order

MUCH Patience and time to go slow & methodical

and then a garbage can to toss it all in if you screw it up..
which, I have also have done..................

FWIW: since dust particles can get in, some good blasts of clean, DRY
air around the lens openings may take care of the issue, MAY is key..
what have you got to lose ?
