Default Beach weather - how to predict it

No weather sensors down there.

In San Franciscospeak, The Beach is the one at the Eastern end of Golden
Gate Park, usually from Lincoln Way to Balboa. All other beaches are
called something else beyond their neighborhoods.

Not much beach at the airport,

Then what do you call where the wind surfers go under the flight path?

The automated weather sensor at SFO can be reached at 650-872-0246
. . . The FAA has weather sensors at airports all around the Bay area.

Rip-rap

There's a beach at Coyote Point, though.

You're slipping, Dave:

I said "The Beach is the one at the Eastern end of Golden Gate Park"
but, of course, we all know I meant the Western end of The Park.

'Course, saying things like that means I must be slipping, too. Ah,
age.

Why not just look on a weather information web site such as
http://www.weather.com or check the web site for one of San Fran's local
TV or radio stations?

Because they give you the weather in the city and not right on the
beach.

Local news media give the beach conditions.

All of our beaches are "in the city" but we have about nine climates.
They're described at the bottom of the "Don't-miss sights in San
Francisco" page http://geocities.com/iconoc/Articles/Sights.html

Local news media give the beach conditions.

They DO?!? Well, they do when the surf's unusually dangerous or Columbus
is coming ashore at Aquatic Park or maybe a race is starting at Yacht
Harbor. Earlier today they said we'd be having very high winds about
this time. Just took the garbage out. Not even a hint of a zephyr.

Are their any surf shops in the area. Around here they have
recordings with the beach weather. You might also try any yacht
clubs/harbors and/or sail shops in the area for the same info
You might also contact your local NWSO and see if they have any
sensors in the area that you can access. Same for the Coast Guard if
they have any facility in the area.
There is a wealth of info here, if you rummage around a bit:
http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_foreca...&county=cac075
If nothing else, click on Observations and see if you can come up with
something.

Note that there's a range greater than 9°F a little past Midnight.
During the day, the variation can be, and usually is, even greater.
