Default Cells popping in southern NYS / CT

Was just in a chat room where someone in the White Plains area said they
are getting hit hard with storms this afternoon... tree limbs down,
hail, the whole nine yards.... Anyone else?

peace,

Skywarn has passed reports to NWS of upto 1.5" hail, localized
street flooding, some wind damges, from multiple cells in CT.
Several Severe Tstm Warnings issued by Taunton (BOX) and Upton/Brookhaven
(OKX).

Lightning has been continuous across CT; WSR88D has had periodic
Meso flags.

Craven/Brooks SigSvr MesoAnalysis was quite hot in SE.NE and extreme
west CT earlier today, with positive SCP and STP -- potent
situation.

They have been predicting some big stroms up here in the Champlain Valley in
Vermont for weeks and so far nothing but a couple of rumbles of thunder. Seems
to be a long cool spell, too cool for big storms to build up.

How did you do last night? The radar seemed to be suggesting you would
get some action up in that neck of hte woods.

I'm in southern VT and we had overnight storms both last night and the
night before... lots of rain, and a pretty decent light show.

Again....Not a lot here. had a couple of big rumbles at 2:30 and 3:30 AM, but
nothing else but rain. As the storms built up today, the majority of attention
was the lower Mohawk and Connecticut River valley with reports of doppler
indicated tornadoes in Bennington and Windham Counties. They said we had some
big stuff coming this way from the southwest, but those fizzled again. Our
rivers are now bankful though so more rain could cause some problems.

Not aware of any tornadoes reported in this area but we did have a BIG

Is there anything in this weather system that would cause a bird to
warble in the middle of the night? We only had a little rain, but
1am is not the usual hour for the morning serenade!

If it's incessant singing, and of a very wide variety of song, it's most
likely a mockingbird.
