Was 113 °F in Australia - somewhere not far S of Darwin - late October 1993. Correction - this was during the 1990 trip I as I now recall. I can't forget the temperature though ![]() |

I lived in Dallas Texas from 1997-2000 and experienced MANY days above 100
with high humidities. HI up to 118. But 1998 was a doozy! We had 29 100+ days in a row, the 30 went up to 99F, and then it went back up into the 100's for a total of 42 days. This was not dry heat either although it never rained either! All told there were 56 days above 100 that summer. Still nothing compared to 1980 when they had 69. Needless to say I am happy to be back in Vermont where we are expecting frost tomorrow night ![]() Fortunately I haven't planted the garden yet. Only some of the hardier stuff that I can cover up. I guess you know which end, or side, of that state I like most.

Labor Day Weekend 1988 in Los Angeles. 110 degrees on Sunday while we were checking out the Spruce Goose and the Queen Mary in Long Beach. A week later, we experienced 24 degrees up in Truckee. |
