![]() "Talk-n-Dog" wrote Precise would include facts that prove CO2 in all it's tiny volume can cause any change at all. MMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOONNNNNNNN Co2 is a pigmant. Add 12 drops of food coloring to a 2 litre pop bottle full of water and see if the color changes. 12 drops will produce a similar concentration to that of CO2 in the air. Now put that pop bottle full of darkened water and another full of fresh clean water in the sun. Which will warm faster and reach a higher temperture? |

![]() "dave" wrote It broke 15 years ahead of the prediction. This kind of melt so far from the Equator is unprecedented in modern time. Just a couple of years ago, during summer, fresh water ponds (melted fresh water ice), were seen only 500 miles from the South Pole. Unprecedeneted warming. |

"Recent studies have added to a growing body of evidence that key glaciers flowing from the West Antarctic Ice Sheet are thinning at rates not seen since the last ice age. For instance, for the past 4,700 years, the Pine Island Glacier has thinned at a rate of about 1-1/2 inches a year, according to a team of scientists from Britain and Germany. That rate is similar to those of other major glaciers in the region. But between 1992 and 1996, Pine Island Glacier thinned at an average rate of 63 inches a year. Their results appear in the March edition of the journal Geology." http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0328/p25s10-wogi.html -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

![]() Oh, I guess because it's an unusual event that is news worthy.. "Robert Blass" wrote LARGE pieces of Ice breaking off of Antarctica is NOT, is NOT, news! It's certainly not Faux news. But over the last 15 years, three major antarctic ice shelves have collapsed. None collapsed over the previous 90 years. |

![]() "Tegiri Nenashi" wrote Well, back in 2002 3,250 sq miles iceberg made a headline: That was the first ice shelf in recorded history to collapse. Two others in the last 6 years. "Tegiri Nenashi" wrote So, extrapolating the trend, we may assume, ice breakage slowed down, and is scheduled to completely stop. And then go infinitately negative. Like your IQ.
