Roger, Please translate your ambiguous statement into language with a clear and unambiguous meaning. Even if we assume that "the globe" only refers to everything from 82 degrees North to 70 degrees South latitude, do you mean: - that the continental USA is warming faster than ALL of the REST of the globe. - that the continental USA is warming faster than the AVERAGE of the REST of the globe. - that the continental USA is warming faster than the AVERAGE of the WHOLE of the globe. As a self-proclaimed statistics expert, you should realize that if you are comparing to an average, then the comparision has little meaning (other than bigger or smaller) unless you specify the standard deviation for the distribution. Remember that when comparing to an average, approximately half of the samples will be above the average. Are you simply saying that the continental USA is in the 50% that is warming faster than the average? |
