"There's a guy down at the Chip Shop who swears he's Elvis" The Fraser Institute folk are a bunch of hardcore dominionists. America's Ann Coulter gave the best definition of right-wing dominionism ever. Essentially, God gave us the earth to consume and destroy with no conscious regard for anything but the pursuit of material wealth: COULTER: I take the biblical idea. God gave us the earth. It's yours." FENN: Terrific. We're Americans, so we should consume as much of the earth's resources... COULTER: Yes! Yes. FENN: ... as fast as we possibly can. COULTER: As opposed to living like the Indians. I have a friend who I work with who is a Conservative Canadian and was with the Fraser just after he left University. He's 30, I'm 51. I was a member of Muroney's supporters in the days when he was too young to wipe his ass (Not Mulroney, my friend), and I'm not stupid when it comes to politics. So, despite how I'm not a Conservative (Harper), but a modest, self described political agnostic (No Layton though). We have good talks. But, he's a good kid when it comes down to it. My position in my company is as an expert in what I do, and I am respected in my industry. So, I went on a visit with him last year to the Durham College Oshawa, a school of architecture and engineering. As we walked to the reception, he said "Every advanced school in Ontario in the past 50 years was built on the tax payer's tab, by a conservative" "Durham College Oshawa is one of them, from Mike Harris" As if he's trying to impress me. Then I responded, "Yes, but most of them were built under the Bill Davis Government!" That shut him up. But only becuase he realized that I wasn't an asshole who didn't know ****. I voted for Bill Davis. He was a Progressive Conservative. A great premier. |

Capitalism is: a shop on market street sells luxury watches starting at $1500 till $25000 while at the other side of the window there is somebody begging for 25 cents. Go to San Francisco, and you will see it in real life. Socialism is: two men walk in the street and they both wear a $50 swatch and an Iphone.
