Nothing to write home about so far in Wishaw this evening. Wind is barely F5, gusting into the low thirties and pressure sitting at 998mb. Currently F4 here, occasional gusts to mid thirties. Highest average wind speed so far 25mph with a high gust of 44mph. We do seem to be fortunate in being well sheltered here, we've just come back from Elgin and it was quite a hairy drive, there's tree debris all over the roads. Pressured bottomed at 983mb and is now rising again. -- Steve Loft, Glenlivet. 650ft ASL Weather: http://www.livet.org.uk/weather |

I am with you I nearly dislocated Tims thumbs during the night at the beginning of the week - I was so tightly curled against the weather and I had managed to collect his thumbs in my foetal position. I am told that as each new gust hit I gripped harder !!! bless January was not so bad in the depth of the night = it was worst at around 9 pm - when we lost our polytunnel Mind you it seems to be easing a little bit now but its still rattling around pretty well - its howling down the chimney The map MCC has posted suggests that this is not going away in a hurry -- regards Jill Bowis Pure bred utility chickens and ducks Housing; Equipment, Books, Videos, Gifts Herbaceous; Herb and Alpine nursery Working Holidays in Scotland http://www.kintaline.co.uk |

It seems the warnings of 70mph hour gusts may have been well off the mark for this area. This evening is very quiet here as well. It has been F5 since about 1400, pressure is steady at a tad over 1000mb. This morning was another matter F8 from 0700, F9 for goodly chunks of the morning, gusting to the mid 50's mph no trouble. Biggest gust was 62mph but that was the only one above 60. I went to bed clutching a torch and with dentures firmly attached and we had the quietest night for three weeks. B-) But I can appreciate it. When it starts to get blowy at night I find a torch and put in my pocket. If the power goes here it goes dark, very very dark. A torch lives on the bedside table as a matter of course. I won't mention how much out 4' sq windows flex under the pressure from F8/F9 winds, now that *does* worry me. -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |

Much quieter but still blustery showers. All quiet on the western front today - rain settled in for the duration I would say. We still have all our polytunnels which is remarkable considering their state, and all the trees so far. It got up again in the middle of the night for a while but not as bad as Monday and a long way short of January -- regards Jill Bowis Pure bred utility chickens and ducks Housing; Equipment, Books, Videos, Gifts Herbaceous; Herb and Alpine nursery Working Holidays in Scotland http://www.kintaline.co.uk |
