Indeed.

Having lived up here for 3 years I have learned to respect ice and snow and
ENJOY it too!
I am far from an expert when it comes to snow driving, but I suspect
many people
have forgotten what winter conditions can be like.

I'm not sure why people are sneering at the forecasts over this.
From what I can see there was no hype at all. The snow fell in
pretty much exactly the places it was forecast. That is the northern
half of Scotland, much of Wales and into the West Country.
Indeed, conditions in parts of Cornwall were worse than forecast.
Just ask those trapped on Bodmin Moor!

Yes, but for the south of England, they over-egged the pudding as usual.

You'd think from the way they were talking that the next ice-age was
setting in - but all we ended up with were temperatures 2-3 degrees
below average, and light winds.

Sorry remind me now, where did it snow.
This recent bout of coolish weather wouldn't have made page three of the
newspapers in the sixties.

Parts of northern Scotland, much of Wales and the West Country.
Precisely where it was forecast to snow.
Heavy snow in Cornwall in November?
Even in the 'good old days' that would be newsworthy.
November has never really been particularly snowy.

And wrt Bodmin Moor, well ultimately that may well have down to
poor driving down to motorists being inexperienced with such
conditions but it's still 'news' whatever the cause.

What temperatures were forecast and what temperatures did you
get? I don't recall anything particularly cold being forecast for
S. England, certainly no gales.

We had strong winds and temperatures were, from what I saw, rather below
what was forecast. I think you're are also confusing what was forecast and
what the media made of it.
