I've cropped and uploaded the 11.40 Terra image. It clearly shows the snow
lying in NW Scotland as well as here in N and NW Ireland. The streaky (Aligned NNW to SSE) nature of the lying snow is fairly obvious. http://www.mtullett.plus.com/modis-t...tMarch2006.jpg Warning it is slightly over 2 MB so would take quite a long time to load on dial up. It is 2626x3042 pixels. -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 01/03/2006 18:04:37 UTC |

I think this is a feature of the sensors, when looking at the edge of filed of view, and someone here (I forget who) did explain the problem a year or so ago in this ng. -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 01/03/2006 21:30:37 UTC |

But its not clear enough for me to be sure exactly where everything is, cos I usually start by going from Flamborough Head and working from there. With the alignment errors, I couldn't work out the usual landmarks. However, it does indeed show the snow well... -- Rob Overfield Hull |
