Default Snow in York...

At the moment we have picked up about 1 - 2cm of snow from this trough. I
was not expecting this..and since we have had some three hours or more of
snow of varying intensity, the forecast for today was completely wrong.
Especially important to me as many friends are travelling by road to a
wedding near Chelmsford..either today or tomorrow. I'm not usually one to
complain....but today's forecast for Yorks, Lincs and the Midlands is
proving to be a disaster.

i was lucky enough to catch the lunchtime one on Look North, and it
suggested that there could be showers on the Pennines, but nothing further
east. I think the development of the system was greater than the models
were hinting at.

Just as I type this, it looks like we in Hull are going to get a few more
minutes of snow as the sky is beginning to darken again, and little flakes
are starting to descend...

The radar shows a clear line of precipitation which seems to becoming more
intense as it moves south so it seems that the trough is becoming more
active. It looks as if there is a good chance of snow cover overnight.

Watching the radar animation, even on the MetO site, shows it quite nicely.

Just my luck I'm out walking early tomorrow on the Wolds.
