Default Water, water; everywhere nor any a drop to drink.

What *is* this washing-the-car concept that people keep
talking about?

I think it's something done by people who don't understand the
protective nature of a layer of mud on their paintwork.
Malcolm

Not to mention the trauma of failing to find your car in a
supermarket car park because it looks quite different when
you've washed off the protective layer.

In a hospital car park I had something of a shock when I put the key in the
car door at it wouldn't open. It was only then I discovered that someone out
there had a ford Grenada dirtier than mine!

I also believe that the brown mud looks more natural in the country.

The last time I washed my car I found a post ice age period where the Co2
levels were higher than now.

Don't ask me. Some weird custom from 2000BC I think. I really can't see
the point in washing pieces of metal - as long as you can see out when
driving - that should suffice.

When I got my recent Yorks Water bill for £250 I was thinking I could have
sworn I paid £500 in Devon in 1997. Sounds like I was right. BTW never heard
of alt.talk.wx b4.

This idea of using rain water is a joke for me. I have 4 large water barrels
and by early April I'll have used it all and it would have to be very wet to
fill them again in summer when I have over 1000 plants in pots, plus a
polytunnel and greenhouse to water. Long may we keep away from meters.

man after my own heart ;-))

Doesn't the rain wash it!
Oh I forgot some people don't get rain anymore :-)
Car washing has to be one of most boring things to do ever. I still do it but as
little as possible and I use a bucket *never* a hose.

I'm from Cumbria, of course we still get rain, that's why the car is covered
with mud off the road ;-)

I haven't washed a car for nearly 40 years, other than run a pressure hose
under the wheel arches if someone parked it near the milking parlour
