Default Oh dear! 1.5mm

Unfortunately, yet again the rain fragmented with only 1.5mm falling.
Considering heavy rain was forecast "helping the drought in the S.E and East
Anglia" it was very disappointing. On a plus side it is a very pleasant
13.5C.

.... similar he just 3.2mm in Bracknell. I smiled when I heard the
presenters talking about 'useful rain': they have no idea what useful
is, especially at this time of year - it has barely entered the
topsoil - the rain we had was more of a nuisance, and I suspect
contributed to the many minor accidents reported throughout the day.
50-100mm in a *week*, now that might be useful!

Martin.

I had just one tip of the rocker (0.52mm) between 13:00 and 13:50 today,
yet my colleague just north of Aberystwyth told me it chucked it down
there at times in the night.

Also just 1.5mm here. I did think perhaps my gauge had got blocked but
it seems right!

However, it is absolutely gorgeous outside - 14.8C at 1625Z with lovely
sunshine. Certainly infinitely better than was forecast!

Had another chance to get out with my new Nikon D200, this time to
Folkestone. I'm starting to get to grips with it now :-)

today): http://www.jstott.me.uk/temp/folkestone/

Just checking on a few more rainfall stats for Canterbury. So far we
have had 79.8mm of precipitation with most of that in February. To the
same point in 2005 we have had 14.4mm less precipitation this year - and
last year was dry. To get to "average" for the year to the end of March,
we'd need another 90.4mm, meaning that we've had just 47% of the
expected rainfall for the year so far.

The rain last night dampened things down a bit but the ground is already
nearly as dry as it was before the rain.

Let's hope we get something reasonable this week and for the next few
weeks so that potential problems can be averted during the summer
(standpipes, etc.)

8mm here in West Fareham, right in among the forecast "could be heavy
near the South Coast" areas. Well I suppose it's all relative...

Nearly but not quite the warmest day of the year... 12point something
degrees (from memory!)
