Default Snow?

I can't believe the NG is so quite with such a wintry spell on the way.

Having spent the past 7 years in Yorkshire and the prevoius 12 in Devon, I'm
expecting the most snow I've seen since 1987 when I lived in in NE Scotland!

Trevor,

It's a bit like the boy that cried Wolf !!!

No one beleives it yet and probably won't till something arrives.

I have a feeling most people have gone over to TWO.

Still, seeing as that's just died a (temporary?) death maybe they'll
all pop back in here for a while.

As I have no idea what two is, Ill stick around here.

But given the remarkable consistency in 30/12Z DT runs, time to get a
little excited I think.

Once bitten twice shy? I think most of the people who like snow on here know
that with at least a week to go any predicted synoptic pattern can change
sufficiently for it not to happen. Although Countryfile forecast talked of
Northerlies by next weekend I don't think we will believe anything out of
the ordinary till it is well established by UKMO forecasts.

Same here Trev. The most snow I've seen in Haytor so far is 9 cm on 11th march
last year.
Only 5 days with snow lying so far this winter and I'm hoping to at least double
that in the next 2 weeks, fingers crossed :-)

Will.

Trevor,

Looking tonight at UKMO, ECMWF & GFS I'm agreeing with you that we should
have the coldest spell in quite a few years and it looks as though even the
SE may get some snow lying!

It certainly looks the most wintry set of progs Ive seen for years - I would
expect an Advance weather warning on Tuesday....

As somone pointed out the other day - theres so many more cars around and
people on the move these days - I really dont know how we will cope in the
SE with a real dumping!

All the best

Phil

Ive given up hoping. If it happens then it will be utterly fantabulous.
If it doesnt, its bonus gardening time.
