Default Penzance - Unbroken Sunshine

Another day of unbroken sunshine. A Max of 18.1C, probably about the
warmest Cornwall, because there was absolutely no sea breeze.
(Considerably cooler, around 13C max, near the north coast) In fact
the north coast sea breeze reached Penzance around 16:00 and caused a
drop in temperature to 15C.

Good visibility and hardly a wisp of cirrus. Wonderful cliff walk
south from Perranuthnoe (near Marazion) www.easterling.freeserve.co.uk/8april.html
.. Totally ignoring recent advice from experienced walkers in another
thread, I wore shades, sun hat, shorts & sandals! (Somehow survived.)

Graham

Another day of unbroken sunshine here too (5th in a row), and not as hazy as
recently. The general wind direction has been ENE but this afternoon a
westerly picked up. It's been a while since we had wind from that direction.

Plenty of sunburnt people down on the beach in Sidmouth. Reached 20.5C here
this afternoon.

Currently at 17:45, 17.4C, RH 51%, DP 7.1C, 1023.9 mb (S), Wind W 10 mph,
Gusting 20 mph, 10.1 hours bright sunshine so far today.

Yes, it's great isn't it.

Sea fog forecast tomrrow, but with a NW by then Mount's Bay should be
fine. Could be a problem at St Ives & Newquay. Then it looks like
being even warmer.

Hi Graham,

Those pictures really illustrate why cornwall is such a beautiful place
especially when the weather is perfect. Long may it remain untouched and
taht's coming from a tourist!

Kind Regards

Not here it's not.

Yesterday, overcast all day with a chilly NW-erly. Max 11.0°C.

Today, drizzly with very poor visibility (see the web cam).

Lesley was on Arkle, 787 metres, yesterday and nearly abandoned the
ascent because of the weather conditions. Rain and high wind had made
the main ridge quite hazardous. (Arkle is in Wester Ross, 30km NE of
Lochinver).

Alan,

Found it, a bit of a trek from your place.

I once had a very soggy packed lunch near Ben More Assynt during a
geology field trip, whilst the lecturers were in the bar of the
Inchnadamph Hotel.

She's on a 'girly' week end. As well as Arkle she's mopping up a couple
of her few remaining Munros. She's hoping to complete them this year.

:-)

Just noticed that the wind has been gusting to 30 mph...

Hi Graham,

If you look very carefully at those two pictures of the mount you might
just be able to see me waving at you from the top. I can certainly
confirm that it was a warm day there, though not quite hot enough to get
me in the sea.

I've examined the photos, but can't quite pick you out! Did you notice
how the temperature fell mid afternoon as the breeze fom the north
coast arrived?

I still haven't been in the sea, but intend to later in the week if
the surf picks up. I'm normally a mid May - mid Oct swimmer, but this
is a bit exceptional.

After a much cooler day yesterday, cloudless & almost calm again this
morning.
