I accept that there has to some kind of caution in warning people what
*might* happen, but a blanket warning for 4 days is completely over the
top and when it inevitably doesn't happen we're back to the 'crying wolf'
accusations.
If they are unsure as to what will happen, as was alluded to in the text
then
don't give an advanced waring at all or at least wait until details have
firmed up enough to allow them to be more region specific.
Blanket warnings are meaningless.

Just to show how silly it can be is illustrated by the forecast for the East
of England for Monday the 13th.
It will be a bright day with sunny spells and just a few light showers.
Feeling pleasant with winds mainly light south-westerly. Maximum temperature
21 °C.

On the same page the whole area is a solid red along with the rest of the UK
which does not agree with the written forecast which is for a reasonable
day.

Ah, that's Global Warming for you, despite the feeling that
this is 1954 or 1956 all over again.
The warnings as shown are inappropriate at this stage. It certainly
not going to be a "nice day" next Tuesday and Wednesday but I see
there is a 30% chance of disruption in the SE. What does that mean,
exactly? Rain stopped play? Builders can't lay concrete? Hardly
unknown phenomena, even down here. To me, "disruption" means
cancelled or delayed train services, roads closed due to snow,
serious flooding or trees down, bits flying off buildings etc. I just
don't think that will happen in the SE and neither, I suspect, does
the Met Office.
