Summary for August 2008

A dull, very wet month but with mean temperatures slightly above average due
to the high number of warm nights. The mean minimum at 13.6°C was the
highest recorded since July 2006 and the 3rd highest recorded since this
station was set up in May 2005.

Recorded sunshine was 120 hours, this was 15 hours less than February 2008,
and less than half of the sunshine recorded during last year's August (252
hrs). There were no cloud-free days at all which is the first time that has
happened for a summer month, and only the 2nd time with March 2008 being the
other month. Conversely, despite being such a dull month the sun only failed
to shine at some point on 3 days.
