Doesn't seem to be anyone giving a forecast or even a discussion of
what we might get from the current synoptic situations. I miss Will's weekly predictions and Paul's were getting good too. Is it those who pick them appart that put you off. I don't care if they don't always go fully according to plan it much better then the unverrified computer forcasts you so often find on the web. For instance I would feel that this week will be fine september weather in Devon but my parents have decied not to go as planned because one of these such forecast says it will be cloudy and raining. Thanks. Simon (South Yorks) |

Don't know where Paul has gone but Will is probably hiking across Dartmoor in the sunshine today. Me, I've just got back from a week's walking along the Pembrokeshire coast path. Most of the time it howled a hooley but luckily any rain that fell did so during the night. Will's weekly weather forecast can be found he http://www.lyneside.demon.co.uk/weeklydiscussions.htm Lovely day here and feeling warm after the quite cool weather in south west Wales. Very sunny earlier on with a max of 19.7°C but a bit of cloud of has built up now (5/8). Looking a bit dodgy tomorrow down here in the South West but the rest of the weeks seems good. (12:50), 18.5°C, RH 74%, DP 13.8°C, 1023 hPa (R), Wind 1 mph ESE. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

![]() Thanks. Simon (South Yorks) The other thing is Simon, people only want forecasts during the summer (to see if we are actually going to get one) then after that is there going to be an Indian summer then they only want other predictions in the Winter (to see if theres any likely hood of Snow when they go positively explosive!) oh and somewhere in between attached to heat is the predicable thunderstorm 'barneys' who live solely for that. Rest of the year Britain is a thoroughly miserable, boring and uneventful country. Well of course it is, what can anyone see of worthwhile mention in March or November other than "right lets get on with the rest of the year" certainly December produces this effect in nearly everyone. And them wretched fireworks - they should be banned. -- Dave R. [west London] |

Agree about the fireworks. Dave, S.Essex Well Dave from South Essex (nice to see someone doesnt live in the SW fer a change) I joined this forum, originally, to get the NWP's each day off Darren Prescott and I still do. Its the best thing about uk.sci.weather to be honest. I battled on (but no longer) with an IRC Undernet Weather channel which nobody on here could give a toss about when I invited them. You may see someone called Gary or Gaz post on here sometimes, he's from Torquay, South West again! which I didnt get on with one little bit on his IRC channel (strange how its yet another from the South West) So perhaps IRC doesnt lend itself kindly as a media form of discussion. On this forum I accept there are your total obsessives, I myself religiously used a Campbell Stokes Honed Sphere and Stevenson screen full of mercurial thermometers an whatnot etc - I even kept records too. Those days have gone mainly because I don't live anywere I can erect such equipment. This newsgroup has not helped re kindle anything but I can be a lurker you can't stop me being that. As a result sometimes I feel compelled to write things to cheer people up! I think my latest is a real beauty in this respect due to the nature of certain posts, when I feel they need correcting. The posts that really bore me are the [OBS] I just can't see why anyone would be interested in looking at Eversholt or Whipsnade reports each day, but each to their own, I guess its up to them if thats what they feel the desire to do. The other thing is does anyone speak the truth on here? I thought I did. I think most are a bunch of spoilsports. -- Dave R. [west London] |
