.... slight rain began about 5 mins ago (after a fine few hours), with
OAT +2.6°C & dew point +0.8°C. BKN Ac, with BKN Sc underneath, and SCT Cu, and I fancy it's the latter that is producing the PPN. Martin. -- Martin Rowley West Moors, East Dorset (UK): 17m (56ft) amsl Lat: 50.82N Long: 01.88W NGR: SU 082 023 |

... (1350Z): slight rain began about 5 mins ago (after a fine few
hours), with OAT +2.6°C & dew point +0.8°C. BKN Ac, with BKN Sc underneath, and SCT Cu, and I fancy it's the latter that is producing the PPN. .... (1450Z) [ last mentioned PPN definitely a shower - from cloud structure as cell moved away] currently, slight rain, set in about 30 mins ago from LYR cloud: all surfaces wet, last of the persistent hoar frost gone. OAT +2.2°C, dew point +1.8°C; visibility reduced to ~7 km. Martin. -- Martin Rowley West Moors, East Dorset (UK): 17m (56ft) amsl Lat: 50.82N Long: 01.88W NGR: SU 082 023 |

Rather borderline at the mo perhaps Temp dropping - 2.2c and dp 0.2c Regards Robin Hilton |

I know: with this flow, we could be in for several hours of rain, some sleet, but little else. We'll need the flow to come from the lower dew-point north and get entrained in the circulation of this low as it forms: we could be in for a wait! A case of 'testing the forecasters' nerve', a phrase used in another context many years ago. I think it's pot luck if we'll get rain sleet or snow here... probably all of them at some point in the next 24 hours but any snow accumulation down here will I think be low and slushy (from past experience and Martin's reports) We shall see. -- Dave Fareham |

Don't panic ;-) Jon. |

Probably worth noting that here at an altitude of 300 metres the precipitation during the past 24 hours has all fallen with the temperature around -1. That equates to a sea level temperature of about +2. I guess that precipitation at low levels witll be right on the snow/rain divide. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. |
