Looking at the latest radar data on the BBC site there isn't any substantial
rain within 100 miles of london.

Can't the met office even get their predictions correct 12 hours in advance
now?

Now we're at the end of the forecast period, this is the time to judge
whether it was reasonable for the day, not at 11.23 in the morning
before the showers had developed and got organised.

This was a good forecast. Ample warming of heavy rain in many areas
and the drought is broken for them.

I think an little apology for the misplaced criticism is due from
boltar and the MetO gets a "well done" from me! *))

The problem with people like Boltar is they don't understand that the Met
office don't actually make the weather nor promise it!

They try to forecast it. I'm probably more disappointed than most, having
had only 6mm since the end of June and suffering the chores of watering
rather a lot of plants every night. In the event I only got another couple
of millimetres today. BUT the forecast I saw clearly said that the rain was
difficult to predict and would come in along the M4 corridor which it more
or less did and SOME places would get some heavy downpours which they did.

Yes alright, it did rain in the end But unless that rain suddenly
developed from nothing in the space of an hour or it was travelling at 100mph
then the radar picture on the BBC weather website was just plane wrong.

That's what showers often do.
