Please define 'rural' and 'Northerner'.

Well, the heavy rain does look like turning to wet snow as it starts
to clear east Friday morning, including the SE. A slushy covering in
places, mainly high ground, but little chance of settling on roads
otherwise. Verges and whatnot maybe.

Must find out how to access the internet without electricity. It would be
most helpful during power cuts.

Easy, smartphone charged in the car.

the last time that i looked a 'forecast' was a prediction of something
that will/might happen - that's probably why it hasn't happened yet
and in particular when it's the forceast for tomorrow!!

Been described as 'any fool' is really one of the kindest compliments
bestowed upon me of late.

define rural and Northerner.

rural is surely well understood whether you linve N E S or W.

Northerner is far more subjective, someone living in Penrith is a
southerner to someone 19 miles up the road at carlisle!! somoene that
I knew once said there wasn't anything decent south of the M62, bit
harsh one feels.
But obviously Orkney and Shetland makes you fairly Northern, but is
that not also an islander, a scottish islander, is someone from Orkney
not a southerner to someone from Shetland?

I'm not or haven't been careering around any room Tudor. I just sit
down, close my eyes and imagine the steam hissing out of the end of
your trombone.

And if I were a clockwork train it would a hornby dublo unlike your
wishy washy triang.
I see posts on here moaning about the MSM sensationalising the weather
yet they only have to visit the UKMO warning web pages where only
recently the yellow peril threatened the very existence of the British
Isles at one stage.

SNOW is forecast for the south and in particular the greater London

what will they do, how will they cope?
the traffic jams will be miles long, people stuck in jams or on trains
for hours upon hrs, the radio talk shows will only focus on this one
subject, resignations will be demanded, questions asked in parliament
- how can this happen, its supposed to be mild, how does the country
grind to a halt because of one snowflake?

--------------------
Why do people have to raise this drivel every winter - it's soooooooo
boring.

I agree on the part about this North south thing-that does get tiring.

Yes the NvS thing is boring, but then divides do not just exist
between North and South, one example:

Back home N.Notts and Lincolnshire border is the river Trent, for the
Lincs yellow bellies if you were from Notts you were "other side of
water." and that was it.
divides are boring, unlike the weather, but like the weather is very
much there.

I suppose one other test might be thus:

1" of snow up here = no mention in the media
1" of snow midlands and south = mention in the media
