Default Cold Winter. My cat predicts

Only *half* a rat? How about a live one, deposited next to your sleepy
head as a present in the middle of the night?

Oh yes - perhaps our felines are related? ;-)

Mice and voles I can catch with my hands, rats are both turbo-charged and
startlingly clever. An incident I will never forget, ever...

My cat has trained me so well, if I am ever lost out in the wilderness, I
should be able to survive by catching rodents of various sizes ;-)
