Default Daffodils - OT ish

Some of mine are in various stages of flowering, fully open, half open and just about to open, but they have been that way for about ten days.

It seems that the low temperatures have just stopped them.

Just wondered how the Daffs were doing around the UK, as I
know some of you
(Will) note the date of the first one. Graham, don't think you
need to reply on this
one.

Noticed some just opening in tubs outside a certain block of
flats in Edinburgh the day before yesterday. Only leaves in
evidence on on the roadsides and on the banks of the Dee in
Aberdeen today, however.

To keep on topic, more snow for much of the night, but little
accumulation. The
radar suggests heavier falls than actual amounts. Snowing here
in York, but not
settling.

Drove home from Edinburgh, with a lengthy detour near Arbroath,
today. Intemittent snow showers, some quite heavy and affecting
visibility, and car thermometer showing about 2șC, but the snow
wasn't melting so the thermometer must be reading a few degrees
high. Then two or three clear sunny hours in the middle of the
day, with biting easterly wind. Then more snow showers in the
late afternoon and evening, car thermometer getting down to -3șC
on the A96 at Glens of Foudland. However all the roads were dry
throughout, and the snow wasn't heavy enough to lie or cause a
problem.

Can't see whether the daffs are out here because it's dark!

Shivering in Moray

February 16 in South Devon, a week later than last year.

A few flakes intermittently throughout the last 48 hours. As a rule
we have little or no snow here, perhaps evident on one or two days per
winter (unlike Will at Haytor), this year we have been getting the
sort of snow that usually occurs on the lower slopes of Dartmoor.

David Mitchell. Langtoft. East Riding.

A few started flowering 2 weeks ago, but now look very sorry for
themselves, wilting and jaded. Bet they wish they hadn't bothered now,
but waited for a definite sign of spring. Would daffodils hold back till
July waiting for some warmer weather?
