Very loud bang here late morning (around 11 25 BST). House shook and
there was enough force to cause the TBR to tip. Reports indicate that it was heard over a large part of W. Essex and E. Herts. It was not the double boom normally associated with a sonic boom but we shall see. At least it brought most of the neighbours out onto the street. -- George in Epping, west Essex, 350'asl www.eppingweather.co.uk www.winter1947.co.uk |

Tried searching google but nothing mentioned yet. Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" |

Perhaps that ship full of uxb in the Thames Estuary has gone up? |

I saw a TV programme on it some time back, and it is not far from the large areas of population around the Medway. The programme was trying to assess the likely area of destruction, but that depends on the ordnance. Rumours are that some of the 1500 tons of bombs have chemical warheads, which is why the authorities have said (and done) very little about it over the last 70 years. However, certain MPs keep chipping away via the FOI act; the latest questions were asked last week and can be seen here - https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/reque...ery_risk_asses |
