Default Arctic Sea ice extent - achieving a late peak in 2014

Weather-related for the individual year. The decline in the peak values is very clear from pre-2000 figures. The decline in the extent summer low is, of course, much more apparent:

The Antarctic ice is on another hemisphere, not another earth, and not where
most of us live.

Cheers, Alastair.

*)) larry knows little about Antarctic ice Alastair and even less about the processes involved and how they may be related to the whole world warming.

Are we the Arctic? I wash;t aware of that.

Most of you live in Sydenham and know little about the difference between the Arctic and Antarctic responses to global warming. Do you larry?

No, we live in the Northern Hemisphere, where the Arctic acts as the main
air conditioner. Without the ice, we will swelter or bake :-(

Cheers, Alastair.

Eocene!

The Eocene-Optimum: When the earth was ice free and life was abundant
from the equator to the poles in both the oceans and land. Nothing
locked up with permafrost or ice; broad-leaf deciduous forest growing to
the Arctic Circle.

Despite CO2 well above today's levels, there was no nasty ocean
acidification and corel reefs flourished in a far greater extent than
they do today.......

I thought the oceans and atmosphere were in a constant state of trying to reach equilibrium (lovely old Roman town)and hence couple with the earths rotation the atmosphere and oceans were always moving so of course what happens at the south pole has just as much influence on global condition and nay the Arctic as well.

So if the Antarctic has no bearing on us in the NH (which is nonsense)) why do the AGW acolytes keep banging on about -or did, until the ice just kept on growing so they decided its the Arctic that important not Antarctica.

By what you're saying Alastair if all the Antarctic land and sea ice were to melt although it would greatly impound on the sea side arcades and fish and chip shops as they would be under water , it still wouldn't have any effect on the sea side weather. No need for Blackpool to worry then , just break out those canoes
