Default Penzance - Record dry spell looking likely

Still no measurable rain in Penzance since the 1st. A few spots today but absolutely nothing in the gauge.

My record dry spell is for the 27 Days ending 23 April 1997, this now is looking likely to be beaten.

I have only recorded 2 months (since Jan 1991) with less than 10mm of rain, these being:-
May 1991 - 3.0mm
June 1996 - 9.6mm

So far this Sept:-
Penzance 0.9mm on 1st
St Ives 1.3mm
Culdrose 2.0mm (to the nearest mm)
Land's End relatively wet @ 5.8mm, as it caught a shower drifting north during last weeks thundery interlude.

Stithian Reservoir https://www.southwes****er.co.uk/reservoirlevels
Drift, which serves Penzance/Newlyn is the lowest I've seen it for a few years. What a contrast to last winter.

Stithian Reservoir

Wong Link given in original post, this is the correct one https://www.southwes****er.co.uk/med.../Stithians.jpg

The larger 'up country' reservoirs generally still quite full

We returned this morning from our trip to Canada to find that only 8.6mm
were recorded since the 1st compared to the twelve year average for
September of 181.6mm.

That is quite astonishing but we've kept an eye on the local weather and
it seems to be valid.

If anyone can confirm or otherwise, I'd be grateful.

Welcome back Alan, you're still living in the UK I see!

8.6mm looks perfectly reasonable to me, see http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/sumr.jpg

Yes, but of all the countries we've visited, Canada would be top of the
list.

Cheers, Graham, thanks for that.

by no means the best, with an-utterly nondescript inland.

The temptation to respond to moronic comments like that is extremely high
,so lets hope nobody will ,otherwise yet another pointless thread will be
set up running.
