Unfortunately the forum there lacks direction now.... the guys, mostly
youngsters, are so enthusiastic when it comes to snow that that reality becomes no more. I say unfortunately 'cause the enthusiasm for weather is great to see but the 'snow' thing there is out of hand. It seems every forum member thinks it will snow wherever and whenever which is just madness. |

Thank you for putting my name up in lights ![]() Although I think you know exactly what I mean you must be playing dumb. No flame wars here NGUK - you were well before my time on TWO, so I don't know you from Adam (whoever he was). We each have our own ways of indulging the same passion. Vive la difference ![]() |

Unfortunately the forum there lacks direction now.... the guys, mostly
youngsters, are so enthusiastic when it comes to snow that that reality becomes no more There are plenty of youngsters, but if you could see the TWO Rogues gallery you would seee that there are rather more of us nearer retirement than our first birthdays! Of 20 threads on the first page, 16 are not snow or winter oriented (unless it's a technical post about, say, the polar vortex). However I'm not unsympathetic to the view that there is far too much giddiness when there's a flake of snow in the northern hemisphere. That's why we try to wrap it up in one thread. If it were upto me I'd ban the word, but it would hardly be fair to impose that on 1100 members, would it? ![]() |

Well the majority it seems, when there's a chance of snow... sometimes the
spinning wheel of mayhem seems to propell everyone into a complete frenzy. Can you believe166 forum members have voted that this years winter will be as cold as 1963. This is out of 376, so a fair percentage. That in itself only discredits the forum in my opinion. There have been other polls where votes have tended towards the ridiculous. Sure there are some interesting topics when people write about their experiences memories of the weather etc. As for the fun aspect... well everyone enjoys 'fun'. But what fun is there if a forum is full of, begins with b and ends with t. There's too much of people writing "blizzard" forecasts, with nothing to back it up. Except Gary Sarre.. he's good and he's real fun 'cause he's ironic and full of sarcasm. ![]() is wearing out a bit ![]() Every??? Victor |

It's the first time I've been near the forum and I'm not being funny (honest!) but I was instantly reminded of the saying: "The Gods do not add to Man's allotted span the time he spends fishing." It really was a case of feeling: "Life's too short." - Tom. |

There have been other polls where votes have tended towards the ridiculous. I had simply ignored that thread in its entirety. If you ask my honest opinion, winter 2003/4 will be colder and wetter than summer 2003. And I wouldn't mind betting that summer 2004 is warmer than winter 2003/4. And while on betting matters - and this is terribly non-PC - I have a geriatric 19 year old cat that can't have much longer to go. The non-PC bet in this house is who will go first, the cat or the Pope? Jack |

There have been other polls where votes have tended towards the ridiculous. That is quite ridiculous. Those people must know deep down that there is virtually no chance that this forthcoming winter will be as cold as 1963. I suspect those votes are from those who *want* the winter to be as cold, which is a different matter altogether! Col -- Bolton, Lancashire. 160m asl. http://www.reddwarfer.btinternet.co.uk |
