Failed to even reach 10°C here yesterday, a max of just 9.8°C.
*Surely* the last single digit max until the autumn?

A min of 3.7°C last night too, so definately a bit parky.

The change to much warmer conditions can't happen soon enough,
I'm sick of these endless cool north westerlies.

It's heaven for Will the cold heart of Haytor.

Yes it looks like just Friday, if it happens. I know you don't like the
heat but there could be a consolation prize of some thunderstorms
developing, if you believe the forecast at this range - presumably imported
from le continent rather than home-grown.

And that wind, never mind cool, it's bloody *cold*!
Got home from work to find the temp a miserable 8.5°C.
Summer can only get better.

I normally count June as a largely Spring month up here. Summer really gets
going in July and August into September. June is often a transition month.
June Average max (2003-14). 18.1C
July 19.6C
August 19.2C
Sept 17.4C

I think a lot of places are like that. June being definately the
the cooleat of the three summer months with little to choose
from between July and August though July usually just shading it.
I wonder if some coastal locations have a warmer August duie to
SSTs being higher during that month.

In Penzance, during the 24 year period of my records, August is 0.1C warmer than July (17.0C & 16.9C respectively.)

Even back in the days of Manley (1911-194something) August was warmer, 16.7C compared with 16.3 for July.

However, to a large extent the strength of the sun in June makes up for the deficit in temperature. When it's shining that is. I can confirm the sea's pretty nippy at the moment.
