uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged.

Default Weather NG?

The title of this ng makes me conclude that it’s about the weather. Yet
for the past several days people have been excessively talking about the
physics of cold radiation. Where are the weather reports? I don’t want
physics. Please keep on topic.

And there was me thinking you were starting to behave yourself by posting on topic and losing the silly alternate identities.
what a shame.

Have you ever got anything right? Uk.Sci.Weather. You noticed the
Weather bit (for once) but somehow missed the Science - or perhaps you
didn't realise Physics was Science?

Lord Rutherford is repoted to have said "all Science is either Physics or
Stamp collecting". However the Nobel prize he won in 1908 was for
Chemistry.

Chemistry is a branch of physics, though

It is. Quantum mechanics explains all of chemistry.

Provided you have infinite computing resources.

Molecular simulations have become very good these days but they cut a
lot of corners to get good solutions in an acceptable time frame. eg

Physics by definition explains (or attempts to) all physical phenomena. But
you hit the more than the sum of its parts problem. eg: in *theory* you could
explain conciousness from first principles but I wouldn't want to be the one
to try.

Saying you want weather with no Physics is like saying you want a house with no foundations.
