No weather forecast at the end of the PM programme on Radio 4 as it would have been an act of sacrilege to break into the hallowed words of some wittering tosspot delivering a hagiography of the greatest musician the world has ever known. To cap it all this epoch-making event was top of the news on Radio 4. Well done, Beeb, you cloth-eared retards.
I don't suppose the Met Office cared; they got the money. Tudor Hughes. |

On the button Tudor. His music may-or may not-have been fantastic, but I realised he was just another selfish showbiz egomaniac when he had a son and called him Zowie. |

It could go on for weeks! The irony is that David Bowie was a big Radio 4 fan or so I heard! |

But you should have seen Twitter: people falling over themselves and self-flagellating to show they're more affected by it than the next person. Mawkish. Sky Sports news had a news item on "Figures from the sports world pay tribute to David Bowie". Puh-lease. Richard |

Dave There are only a couple of people from the 'entertainment' world whose deaths have really hit me, John Lennon & David Bowie. I agree with Tudor that rolling on art critics (didn't many of them slate him at the time?) to show how great he was is not needed. His work speaks for itself. I remember, in my student years, in the early hours after a party, listening to 2 albums over & over, Sgt Pepper & Ziggy Stardust, both still sound as good as ever. In my view he managed to avoid becoming a celebrity, he remained the enigmatic Bowie right up to the chilling final video. I'm also a huge fan of Kate Bush, who owes a lot to Bowie. Graham Penzance |
