It's happened.
No weather forecast presenter after the 9 pm news on BBC1. Just a caption and the voice of a rather jolly northern female giving a general forecast for the whole country. She ended saying she hoped for better weather in the future. It was like a comedy sketch. No doubt BBC will be annoyed with MeteoGroup, or other way round? UKMO must be laughing like a drain of course. Len Wembury |

I suspect that there may have been a glitch in the new graphics engine...
Tomasz Schafernaker probably tried to add a fly-through across the UK and the whole think came to grinding halt. They couldn't wait to ditch the old system so they couldn't go back to that, and even if they could go back it would be a painful humiliation if they did, so they went for the least worst option. if I'm right, it doesn't bode well for the future. |

But with no graphics I guess they were not prepared to stand in front of a blank screen. When all the aids are removed it is a daunting task to fill the time. I did not recognise the female voice who was volunteered to at least read something. I think she had a lancashire accent. Len |

I switched to the BBC News Channel and the forecast at virtually the same time was fine. It might have been recorded but then that option would have been available on the the other channel; it's a bit odd. My immediate thought was that there might have been a f/c on BBC News at ~21:25. Maybe the BBC 1 21:10-21:30 News was slightly delayed? |

This was mentioned on last nights Newswatch on BBC News.
Officially the BBC say it was due to human error related to the earlier than usual Weekend News bulletin. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09rmxtq/newswatch-16022018 |

Â*Â* https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09rmxtq/newswatch-16022018 So somebody 'forgot' that the news was on earlier than usual and they didn't have time to prepare the proper forecast?? It looked like something out of the 70s, simply a voice-over type bulletin like you would get just before closedown. Even the graphic they did have looked as if it had been hastily put together! -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl Snow videos: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3QvmL4UWBmHFMKWiwYm_gg |

I wondered if the BBC had come up with any explanation. They appear to need someone to press a button at the right time. It seems the weather forecast does not go out live? https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod...watch-16022018 If you want to see a snip of what happened , fast forward to about 9:55 mins. Len |

It's usually live, although overnight (roughly midnight to 06:00) they replay a recording made late the previous evening. |
