Default 6.3 max so far in Bournemouth...

.....and the coldest October day here since at least 1995 (my records go back
to 1996)

In contrast, October 2001 failed to drop below 7c at any time, day or night.

Anyone have any stats for notably cold days in October in the past?

In Coventry the coldest October day (records back to 1894) was in 1934
with a maximum of just 2.7C.

Today's maximum was Today's maximum of 7.*c makes it the coldest October
day since 1992 (7.0C).

Oct 29 1896 peaked at just 3.9°C here in Cheltenham (my archive-trawling
pays off), and 26/10/1895 peaked at 4.0°C.
