The Met Office website still says "No severe weather is expected in the next 12-48 hours". It would be very interesting to see what would happen if someone were to sue the Met Office on the grounds that they suffered a loss after relying on that statement. Norman. Very unsatisfactory. I think that is what gets at me most. We all know the "private" side of the MetO is excellent, as those who post in here testify to, but the public side, as exemplified by that website, is pathetic at times and brings all into disrepute. For many on the Internet, the MetO website would be the first port of call when looking for warnings. Heavy snow showers here now, BTW, but not settling on low ground. Temp is +2.3C in Coleraine after +5C two hours ago. -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 21/12/2003 11:50:09 UTC My aurora images here http://www.mtullett.plus.com/29a-oct and http://www.mtullett.plus.com/20-nov/ |

Didn't we have this discussion a year ago, when on several occasions there were warnings on the BBC's weather pages but none on the Met Office's own pages? Presumably the Met Office site has a more restrictive definition of what constitutes "severe". -- John Hall "The beatings will continue until morale improves."
