Stop being perverse! Easterly winds are not good times. Thankfully, I
shan't be at my parents on the Yorkshire Wolds, (485ft asl) where it will
blow very thin, as there is next to no place to get out of the wind but on
the east coast this is NOT condusive to a easy life.

Can someone explain to me the fascination of certain members of the group
with snow? It's cold, slows everything up, makes the roads dangerous and
stop you doing what you want to do. And thats preferable?

Lest we forget:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3184187.stm

No weather suits everyone, personally I don't like what we had in the summer
(except when it thunders at the end) - and because of a medical condition I
have, it is potentially more dangerous to me than any cold weather. However,
I appreciate some do like hot weather but reading here in the summer, I
could use your exact words with just one changed:

"Can someone explain to me the fascination of certain members of the group
with heat".

It is far easier for anyone to negate the effects of cold weather than it is
with hot weather - extra clothes, heating ones home etc. Any worthy
neighbour living next to an elderly
person(s) can easily make sure they are looked after during any cold spell
so they don't have to go out etc.

Oh come on, when the weathers interesting in an otherwise uninteresting
climate, you expect people who are interested in weather to get interested

interesting.

I guess it's because I don't like what the cold does, as I have poor blood
circulation in my feet, meaning it they get cold, they stay cold and they're
a bugger for being uncomfortable with it. I can't do anything about it, so
i have to live with it. So we both have medical reasons for not liking
certain weathers! :-/

I take your point about heat though cos I don't like it above 25C either,
for I think a good temperature is about 22-23C in summer.

From a purely academic and theoretical viewpoint it IS interesting, like
thunderstorms are interesting, but to actually have to experience it is a
completely different kettle of frozen fish! :-)

Personally , I like weather extremes that I can observe from the safety of
my own house.

Its not much fun being stuck out in heavy rain etc.....

Rob.
Perhaps you could explain what is so great about mild wet and miserable
southwesterly airstreams when they occur, which incidentally, is far too
often.
At least the occasional easterlies give us a well earn't break from the
persistent gloom although they are often cold.
Best regards. Len.
