Temperature here in Luton, some 4km NW of the airport, was
static at about 4.5 till 1345 with intermittent rain, but since then
the temperature has fallen fast ... now 1.7C at 1505, but the rain,
sadly, has stopped, at least for the time being.

Rain turned to heavy snow in Bedford and the temperature down to 0.8C, its
settled on grass, cars, rooves etc but slush on the roads. Rainfall
equivalent was 1.2mm. Now stopped snowing. Is that the end?

Snow still falling lightly in Northampton - sadly there's no decent hills here, unlike the old days sledging opposite the Windsock! (Sigh.... memories!)

Technically I suppose, heavy snow needs an accumulation over 4cm/hr? It
looked heavy though briefly! Just started up again - very light.

Hi Cupra,

I was hoping for some snow here as I saw the possibility of heavy rain
falling into cold air with little wind, the melting of the snow bringing down
the freezing level. The band pivoted over Northampton so I've missed it.

We did have some drizzle, but looking up at Beacon Hill (803ft), it hasn't
been sufficient to bring down the freezing level. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

Hi Joe,

It was surprising how intense the snow was at times - It'll be interesting to see Jims' photographs from Moulton (I'm in Wootton) where the temperature fell a lot earlier than it did here, plus he was reporting snow a good hour before I experienced it!
