Default Fizzling out?

The radar showing the band of precipitation looked quite intense earlier
although there doesn't seem to have been any reports of heavy snow on here.
The latest AV brief with the band reaching the Borders seems to be thinning
and fizzling out. Let's hope it picks up a bit more energy again as it
tracks down.

Dave. 1.3C at 18.20Z S.Essex. 30m asl.

Should pick up more moisture as it heads down towards the Pennines as WAA
brings added moisture in from the Irish Sea, expecting it to pack a punch as
it heads into North Wales.

Hi Dave,

You've no chance - I'm 100'ish miles north of you on the Wash coast - I'm
having every last drop of snow that thing's got to offer - you can have some
cloud if thats ok with you ;-)

Hi Andrew,

With it picking up additional moisture from the Irish Sea, it too highers
the freezing level, especially to wards the W. I have always been a little
hesitant about the term warm air advection (WAA), I think it is more
commonly know as warm advection.

I've noticed that and it also appears to be moving more quickly.
There are in fact two distinct bands of snow expected, the first
due through here in the late evening then the other around rush
hour tomorrow morning.

Temperature steadily rising here in Greater Manchester as well. Currently 2.7C.
The skies are relatively clear with the exception of a couple of high altitude
clouds moving by at speed.

I am still not hopeful.

Paul.

Whitefield - right between Bury and Manchester (it literally sits on the Greater
Manchester/Bury border)
