Do you think the snow levels will lower - ie Copley/North Pennines or

is it
a case of warming trend through today or (again) colder air tucking

in
behind as the depression moves away East ?

Hi, Paul,

I think the PROB30 was about right i.e. 70% chance it won't happen. The
local forecast is that the colder air could sink further south for a
while this evening, but then it's very mild I'm afraid. The depression
seems fixed to the west.

ATB,

Too far south for the snow and too far north for the gales.

Your to far south, I'm to far south! Steve and myself are at almost
identical altitude, to the foot. We have had nothing but rain, lots of
rain.

Probably the best part of 25mm since yesterday evening. Wind has been
light, nothing above F4 but the direction has gone from W to NE via
S'ly. Temp was 5.8C at midnight fell to just over 3C mid morning and
is now very slightly higher.

Going to have to "massage" the rain fall data figures as it had gone
off scale on the plots and I reset the WM918. I had intending doing it
on the 1st Feb but with this amount of rain...

He he Dartmoor weather hey Ken, except for the wind speed and

direction of
course !

Hi, Will,

Don't rub it in, can't stand the rain, as you know! We could well end up
with an inch, our "rain-shadow designed" drainage systems will never
cope!

| Hi, Mike,
|
| Newcastle airport TAF is going for PROB30 RASN later today. It's going
| to be one of those interesting borderline days in Copley.
|
| 981mb and falling quickly, temp well up at the moment at 5.1C, wind NNE
| F2, continuous mod rain and thick fog 200metres.

Hi Ken,

With the depression quickly tracking E it will drag in colder NE winds
as it does so, lowering the freezing level. No doubt at your height you
will see some snow. I hope Steve has supplies as it doesn't look like
stopping all day for him and also on the occlusion pushing in tomorrow.
I await the winds that are forecast, EGNX going for G48KT

Joe

I was about to report that the temperature was rising slightly and the
snow was easing off - then the temp started falling again and the snow
is now coming down heavier than ever.

Temp now 0.4C, wind increasing and the snow's starting to drift. The
anemometer's clogged and showing 4 mph, I reckon it must be over 20mph.
We had 10cm level snow when I went out to the garage half an hour ago. I
love it here!

The snow plough came round earlier and the bus braved another trip - no
chance of that now in these conditions.
