Hi, Nick,

Coolest July day for eight years here. High 11.0C which is the lowest
for July since 1996 (10.6C)

Not much rain or wind, but it was not expected to be so bad with us. Max
gust in the past 24 hours only 26kn with 4.8mm rain. That will do for
me, I don't like rain or wind, but I do like sunshine and warm summers.

That's positively tropical!

I recorded a max of 11.9C, but even that isn't a July record in
my short period of recording with 11.4C on July 1st 2002.

As I correctly predicted last night the heavy rain that was forecast
for this region never materialised, well not for Bolton anyway.
It never does in a NE but they keep on forecasting it.......

Certainly a grim and cheeless day, blustery with some rain, especially
in the morning.

Hi Ken

I looked back at my records for last year and on this day it was 25.9C,
sunny with a gentle breeze, sounds perfect! What a contrast to this year.

Lets hope things start to warm up and settle from now on because I like the
warmth and sun as well.

Not here, however. Sunny periods all day - we walked into the village for lunch
in shirtsleeves without even bothering to take a jacket or jersey. Coolish
northerly wind, but not enough to make me wish for an extra layer of clothing.

I'm like you, Ken, I don't like rain, though I can put up with wind.

A misreable +10.9C maximum recorded here in Rossendale. The lowest daily
max I've recorded in July since I started compiling records in July 2000.
Again, I think the rainfall was overdone a bit with 2.0mm recorded since it
started raining last night.

I have to say though that the MetO have done a pretty good job at predicting
the development and track of this system overall since the 'Countryfile
Forecast' last Sunday, when it's potential impact was first communicated.

Default Coldest July Day Ever?

Hi Ken, Nick & All,

This is the second lowest max (12.4°C) here in Ferryhill in July for 8
years. The maximum actually occured
just after midnight, The only day with a lower max temp was 6th July 2000,
which never got above 11.9°C.

I've had 12.2mm of rain since midnight too.

I started looking at cold 7 day periods in July in previous years since 1996
and the lowest mean was 12.5°C from
5th-11th July 2000 (15.8mm) and 13th-19th July 2001 (27.0mm). Currently,
2nd-8th July 2004 averages 13.6°C,
with 32.4mm of rain.
