More significant, I would have thought, is that it is forecast to penetrate Iceland. But it's only a 132-hr chart, remember. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |

564 decametres is the height at which the pressure falls to 500 mb (or Hp)
....strictly speaking the thickness depth between the height of the 1000mb and 500mb pressure surfaces. Warm air is less dense than cold air so if the 500 mb pressure level is relatively high it suggests that the airmass ( between 1000 and 500 mb anyway) is warm and it may be time to get the sun cream out. A thickness value of 564 is relatively infrequent. Cheers -- York, North Yorkshire. (Norman Virus Protected) "John Smith" wrote in message ... ...also of note is the 582 DAM TT moving north over southern Spain.
http://imkpc3.physik.uni-karlsruhe.de/pics/brack3a.gif My aunt near Alicante told me the local radio was talking about an impending heatwave, to which I replied someone along the lines of "how will you know ?" ! Jon. |
