However, currently at CAT 4 the forecast as it moves towards Cuba is a CAT5 and then a CAT4 as it skirts the west coast of Florida. This certainly must be a storm that has/will affect more of the populus in the region than ones before. It looks as if the Cayman Islands are in for it next. From the current warning digest posted by Louis, Florida landfall is predicted for Sarasota, passing through to North Carolina. That's going to be incredibly messy, as it will most likely pass straight over the Orlando metro area, as well as Kissimmee and possibly Cape Canaveral too. Canaveral on the Eastern side of Florida, so it won't be affected by a direct hit, but it will still blow a bit. I can't recall any mission for launch during coming day.... -- Rob Overfield |

My impression is that IVAN is moving to the south of Grand Cayman
Island. I have noticed the forecast path seems to be moving further west each time, I'm begining to think this has similar features to the Galveston Storm over 100 years ago and maybe it will reach landfall near New Orleans or further west.
