But we had very loud thunder in Waterlooville yesterday, and when I got home
I found that the power had been off.

their burglar alarm off and was literally felt around the town. Sea breezes
opposing the light NE'ly surface flow largely to blame.

Storms were reported at Bournemouth and Plymouth :-
