BTW, I've always wondered what the surface temperature of Venus would be
if its atmosphere was the same composition as Earth's.
Estimated average surface temperature - 460 - 490C
Estimated greenhouse effect - 450 - 500K
So, you're saying the surface temperature would be -10 to +10C without
Venus's super-greenhouse effect?
The margin of error deduced from the figures quoted is greater than that:
-40C - +40C
However, "without Venus' super-greenhouse effect" might imply no atmosphere,
and calculations could be based upon Solar radiation subtended by the
diameter of Venus, and assuming similar surface thermal properties (which
they are not)...
Earth's average would be approx -18C with Venus at 0C
If Venus had an Earth-like atmosphere, its average surface temperature might
then be around 34C as against our 15C.
