BRACKNELL (TF)
24/0715Z
PPN falling here for past couple of hours; mainly -RASN (as now), but
short period of light snow (-SN) has provided very fragmentary cover
roofs, cars, some grassed areas etc., but all paved/tarmac/concrete
clear & damp (i.e. non-icy). OAT currently +0.5degC. No impact on
travel.
24/0800Z
Little changed from previous. Continuous light sleet past hour making
little impact on surface. Hard/paved surfaces damp, locally wet ...
grass surfaces have a little snow: overall though, nothing remarkable.
OAT +0.7degC, grass min. thermo reading +0.4degC.
0900 NNW F3 15km -RASN 2/ST 7/ST 8/SC T011D002
RMK: Only very temporary effect on ground state from brief snow phase:
in fact, much of early patchy snow has melted as the temperature rises.
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 00.6 grass min: 00.2 precipitation: 0.4
other data: All hard/paved surfaces either damp or wet, not icy. Grass
surfaces also predominantly wet - with only isolated snow on grass
tips. ]=
1130 N F3 12km -RASN 7/ST 8/SC T018D003
RMK: light rain/snow, with ocnl light rain/drizzle, since 09Z ...
surfaces damp.=
1300 N F3 12km -RASN 7/ST 8/SC T016D006
RMK: wind ocnl. F4; PPN continuous since last OB; mostly sleet (-RASN),
but very short periods of snow (-SN), seemingly depending upon intensity
of PPN.=
1500 NNW F3-4 20km -RA 7/ST 8/SC T018D009
RMK: proportion of 'sleet' gradually fading over past 2 hours; been
rain (or rain and drizzle) now for about 45 mins; another grey, damp,
chilly February day.=
1800 N F3 9000 -RASN BR 7/ST 8/SC T018D012
RMK: wind ocnl F4; some fitful bursts of snow if I squint my eyes and
err on the safe side, but overall last 3 hr it's been either sleet or
rain: all light, but persistent.
[ DAYTIME DATA (09Z - 18Z):
screen max: 02.0 precipitation: 1.9
other data: all surfaces thoroughly damp/wet (no snow anywhere). Not
going to be very pleasant if the cloud breaks up! ]=

2100 ENE F3-4 15km RE-RASN 1/CU T008D-009
RMK: PPN (-RASN mainly) finally packed up circa 2015Z, then cloud
started to break up thereafter; rapid clearance of cloud 2030-2040Z,
with moon now shining brightly. Just the scrappy Cu fra drifting over
the sky. Grass min. thermo reading -0.4degC, and ice is forming on that
thermometer: all surfaces *very* wet, but no signs as yet of ice.=
