local untreated road is perfectly fine if care is taken, and certainly
the treated roads look OK; I think the 'chaos' is due to people not
being used to the conditions rather than the weight of snow, but as
mentioned in an earlier [WR] thread, I suspect that snow has fallen over
earlier ice/melted-refrozen snow and it is *this* that has caused what
are obviously major problems locally.
