Default Severe cold Bavaria and N Scandinavia

the figures you mention for Bavaria - it looks a bit suspect to me unless
the station is at altitude. My hazy memories of the place are of a pleasant
lakeside village, which, although surrounded by mountains, wouldn't seem to
be a serious frost hollow. Do you have any info from more reliable sources

An office mate comes from Bavaria and even he agrees that it's been very
cold there. He's spent the last two weeks berating us British people for
our inability to cope with a litle bit of snow!
