Good afternoon all,
The water-level in the big Dutch rivers rises exponentially. Of course this
is due to the rainfall in the basins of both rivers.
According to the RIZA (National Institute of Water Management) this rising
is unusual but not exceptional; the amounts of water in the Rhine went up
from 1300 m3/s to 6500m3/s during the last week.
Something similar happened in February 1990 and March 1956. The latter has
the record -- a rising from 1.400 m3/s to 7.000 m3/s within 5 days. By the
end of that month that waterlevel had dropped to 1600 m3/s again.
This is a link to the RIZA-site. Click on the rivers to find graphs in which
the
waterlevel is given over the last week.
