Default Cols, hot air and this week...

Just wondering how, by looking at the GFS models, we can tell if there will
be unbroken sunshine or whether storms or stratiform cloud will occur. This
Thursday and Friday for instance, the air is looking to be very warm indeed,
but there are no significant pressure gradients across the UK. What sort of
weather should we expect this to produce. Could there not be local storms
along sea breeze fronts and due to orography? Or is there still going to be
descending air and so suppressing all convection?

I'm a meteorology student at Reading and just want to know more! Thanks,

Jeremy
