With the current set up in the Atlantic, it is interesting to note that it
has been raining for some time now in the central Sahara.

The NWS chart some quite a contrast in conditions between the south of
Algeria: 16C, rain and northern Niger 38C sandstorm.

It can't be too often you have a low like this reaching such parts? Having
had cursory looks at the charts over recent weeks I get the feeling it has
been damper than usual over at least the western part of the Sahara.

It'd be nice if there were any pictures of the desert getting green with
lakes appearing (Weather had an article on it last year.)

Mt. Teide on Tenerife has its fair share of snow dumped on it recently, but
it seems to be melting now.
