Default [OBS] Bracknell(TF) Sun 13 Mar 2005

Sunday, 13 March 2005
BRACKNELL (TF)
0900 WNW F2 25km - 7/SC T021D-001
RMK: Classic Stratocumulus stratiformis (extensive sheet) translucidus
(position of sun seen through cloud elements) perlucidus (distinct gaps
between elements). We appear to be on the SW edge of a sheet across the
SE of England - convective over-turning mixing the dry air into the
sheet ought to see it break up further; it looks very thin: occasional
shafts of strong sunshine. Early very slight hoar frost but that now
gone.
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: -00.8 grass min: -03.0 precipitation: NIL
other data: Hard/paved surfaces dry; soil surfaces again drying out (we
are on a sandy soil type, so this is not uncommon in extended periods of
little rain).]=
1000 W F3 28km - 1/CU 7/CI COTRA T034D009
RMK: The Sc in 09Z ob began breaking up/moving away (combination of
both processes) not long after that time, and by 0930Z, very little left
with shallow Cu developing to distant north, and revealing extensive Ci,
which looks suspiciously to have a significant condensation trail
component. A fine morning. =
1200 W F3 30km RE-SHRA 1/CU 6/SC 7/CI T055D-005
RMK: 1 okta Cu mediocris to NNE; 6 oktas of superb Sc mamma - possibly
the source of the few spots of rain recently; 7 oktas of Cirrus as
before. =

1800 W F2 35km - 1/SC 7/SC /ACCI T056D-016
RMK: Can't determine how much higher cloud there is, but total cover
appears to be 8 oktas - certainly there would appear to be thick Ci or
Cs present.
[ DAYTIME DATA (09Z - 18Z):
screen max: 06.9 precipitation: tr
other data: a notional 'trace' from the drops of rain noted at the 12Z
observation: all hard/paved surfaces dry; all soil surfaces drying on
top. ]=
