I don't think they were *in* the sea, merely walking along the front.

They were on a slipway leading down to the sands...possibly running back to
avoid incoming swell and a much larger swell caught them....children will be
children!!!. Very foolish according to local opinion (Look North TV)...lots
of notices warning of the dangers!!
